The photo magazine "Record" was a personal publication created by Daido Moriyama to re-examine his own photographs, following the release of the legendary "Farewell Photography" in 1972, which marked his place in photographic history. It was less for others and more private, compiled in 16 pages focusing on snapshots capturing daily life. Publication was temporarily suspended after "Record No. 5" in 1973, but "Record No. 6" was published in 2006.

"Record No. 25" is composed of works shot in Okinawa, where the photographer visited numerous times for the Daido Moriyama exhibition "Endless Journey: North/South" (2014) held at the Okinawa Prefectural Museum & Art Museum. The photographer states, "For me, Okinawa, even with its various subdivisions, seems to be perceived in an extremely personal way. The light hitting the back alleys of Naha. The light enveloping a certain beach. The light illuminating the main street beside the base. The light pouring onto the castle ruins hill. The light I perceive in Okinawa has a peculiar quality."

In Japan, it is available on e-book stores such as Apple iBookstore, Amazon Kindle Store, and Rakuten Kobo. E-books of previously published "Record" issues up to No. 24 were released on domestic e-book stores starting July 2013, including complete reprints of Nos. 1-5 and individual issues from No. 6 to No. 24. With the release of "Record No. 25," these have now also been released on Apple iBookstore, Amazon Kindle, and other platforms worldwide.
