Mosaic Art Exhibition 'L'atelier par Impossible'
Following Polaroid's withdrawal from instant film production, Impossible, a company dedicated to art-focused instant film, has developed a new device. This is the 'Instant Lab,' which prints from an iPhone onto instant film. 'L'atelier par Impossible,' an exhibition showcasing mosaic art created from photographs taken with this device, will be held at Impossible Project Space in Nakameguro from December 3rd (Tuesday) to January 13th, 2014 (Monday, holiday).

Dali's Studio and the Studio of 'Father of Photography' Niepce Recreated in Mosaic
Impossible has created the 'Instant Lab,' the world's first device capable of developing iPhone images onto genuine instant film. Through an innovative method of exposing instant film to the light of the iPhone itself, it has succeeded in capturing the film's unique texture.
This 'Instant Lab,' which expands the possibilities of artistic creation through its novel concept, is being used to create an exhibition unlike any seen before with instant film. Digital data is incorporated, images are broken down and printed one by one onto instant film, then assembled on a wall to form a mosaic.
At the venue, photographs of private spaces belonging to a wide range of artists from different eras are recreated in mosaic form. These include images of the laboratory of Nicéphore Niépce, the pioneer of silver halide photography, taken by Daido Moriyama, and photographs of the studio where Salvador Dalí spent his later years. These are presented as new, monumental artworks. An opening reception will also be held on Friday, December 6th, from 8 PM.
This exhibition presents a completely new form of photography exhibition, distinct from traditional classic photo shows. It is sure to offer a fresh sense of wonder.
