From Private Christmas Gift to Acclaimed Release

Now, Ben Gorham draws inspiration from the photographic work "Kirsten 1996," shot by the avant-garde photography duo Inez & Vinoodh in 1996 and used on the fragrance's packaging, to create the scent "1996."

Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, partners for 25 years in both life and work, have freely traversed art, fashion, and culture. They have shot advertising campaigns for luxury brands such as Valentino, Miu Miu, andSaint Laurentand continue to be at the forefront of the fashion industry. "Kirsten 1996," photographed by the duo, symbolizes innocence with the subject's porcelain-like skin, yet her berry-colored lips exude a dark sensibility, as if she has grasped true beauty.

"What I tried to express is our emotions derived from the photograph itself," says Ben Gorham. Going beyond the surface, he reinterpreted the depth of this photographic work into a scent with rich imagination. The result is an original fragrance that transitions from the contrasting top notes of crisp juniper berry and spicy black pepper to a heart of violet, leather, and orris, finally settling into a base of patchouli, black amber, and vanilla.

"1996" was initially created as a private Christmas gift for friends of Ben Gorham and Inez & Vinoodh.
