Gelatin Silver Session has been held annually since 2006 with the aim of sharing the joy and fascination that only gelatin silver photography can offer. This project, which has garnered the support of many photographers, seeks to preserve the time-honored, labor-intensive techniques of shooting and darkroom processing, as well as the skills and equipment involved.

The venue will showcase unseen works from around 50 photographers, ranging from established masters like Daido Moriyama to contemporary stars such as Orie Ichihashi and Bruce Osborn. Additionally, a special exhibition commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of the late Masaharu Ueda will be presented.

During the exhibition period, a silent auction of photographic works, separate from the exhibited pieces, will also take place. All proceeds will be donated to support reconstruction efforts in Tohoku. Furthermore, the public judging for the "1st GSS Photo Award," a competition to discover photographers who will carry forward the future of gelatin silver photography, will be held on Monday, October 14th, starting at 4:00 PM.

Gelatin Silver Session 2013 - Save The Film - also features a variety of other events, including talk sessions with participating photographers. We invite you to experience the unique, profound expressions of gelatin silver photography, born from chemical reactions, rather than images converted into electrical signals.
