This Year's Theme: "Our Treasure, the Earth"

The "JQA International Environmental Children's Drawing Contest" is held to provide an opportunity for children to consider environmental issues through drawing, and to foster environmental awareness among the next generation.

The contest has been held 17 times to date, targeting children aged 7 to 15 from around the world. In the previous contest, over 17,000 entries were received from 94 countries.

The children's artworks depict familiar nature, living creatures, family, and their local communities, showcasing rich imagination and sensitivity. Beyond borders, cultures, and languages, the works convey messages about the global environment.

The theme for the 18th contest is "Our Treasure, the Earth." Children are encouraged to express their vision of our irreplaceable "treasure," the beautiful Earth.

Additionally, outstanding works from the 16th contest are on display until January 22, 2017, at the Yozan Uichi Memorial Museum of Art in Aomori.
