Architecture Lecture Series 217 [nie-ichi-nana] to be Held

The third installment of this year's "Architecture Lecture Series 217" will be held on Friday, September 16th. This time, the guest is architect Taira Nishizawa. We anticipate a stimulating session filled with insightful discussions!

A Talk Session with Architect Taira Nishizawa and Two Other Architects!

Architects Ryuchi Ashizawa and Takayoshi Hiranuma, both based in Osaka, will serve as the main speakers. Every two months, starting at 7 PM, they invite a guest speaker to explore their creative thinking, the origins of their commissions, and their methods and approaches to their work, fostering a candid and stimulating talk session.

This initiative, launched in fiscal year 2010, aims to foster active discussion by drawing out the originality of each architect while being mindful of the unique characteristics of the Osaka region. It serves as a platform for exchange among architects and an opportunity to inspire younger designers.

We aspire for this momentum to extend beyond Osaka and grow into a nationwide movement, further invigorating architectural design activities originating from Osaka.

Taira Nishizawa

Born in Tokyo in 1964. Currently a part-time lecturer at Tokyo University of Science, Nihon University Graduate School, Yokohama National University Y-GSA, and Japan Women's University. His notable works include "House in Suwa" (1999), "Tomo Town Forestry Comprehensive Center" (2004), "Okinawa KOKUEIKAN" (2006), and "Shunpu Church" (2008).
