Capturing the Freshness of a Country Estate
The Chelsea Flower Show, an event that heralds the arrival of summer in Britain, brings together garden designers and landscapers from around the world to showcase a variety of vibrant gardens. This year's top prize was awarded to the "Laurent-Perrier Chatsworth Garden," a collaboration between Laurent-Perrier and Chatsworth, the Duke of Devonshire's stately home.
Chatsworth, located in the Peak District of Derbyshire, is the ancestral seat of the Duke of Devonshire family, who own the historic building that houses one of Europe's most important art collections, the Devonshire Collection.
The design was led by landscape garden designer Dan Pearson. His signature naturalistic approach and wild aesthetic are the core of this garden, which recreates the Trout Stream and Paxton's Rock Garden of Chatsworth. The garden evokes the lightness, freshness, and elegance of a country estate, preserved by a single family for 200 years.
"Dan Pearson has created a space at Chelsea that evokes the very spirit of the historic Chatsworth Garden," says the Duke of Devonshire.
This sentiment resonates with the spirit of Laurent-Perrier, a Champagne Maison that has been passed down through generations with three core beliefs and passions: "Respect for nature and wine," "Unwavering pursuit of quality," and "Valuing people."
The planting from the "Laurent-Perrier Chatsworth Garden" is scheduled to be publicly displayed in the actual Chatsworth Garden's Trout Stream in the spring of 2016, and will undoubtedly continue to delight visitors for years to come.
