Masafumi Suzuki: Achieving a Radiant Bronze Glow! (1)

Masafumi Suzuki Gets a Glossy Bronze Tan!
— First Experience with the Buzzworthy 'Body Coloring' (1)

Summer arrives, and with it the desire for a tanned complexion to look more rugged.
Yet, we're all too aware of the risks: sunspots, wrinkles, freckles, dryness, and even skin cancer.
I want to be tanned, but I'm still afraid of sun exposure...
'Self-tanning products that give you a wheat-colored skin tone are selling so well, there must be salons that can do your whole body,'
Suzuki's wish came true, and we visited HoME in Minami-Aoyama to experience the much-talked-about 'body coloring.'

Safe, Secure, and Effortlessly Bronze!

Masafumi SuzukiTanning salons are definitely bad for the skin, and while self-tanning exists, I can't do my whole body myself, so I was sure a salon like HoME would exist. Where did this 'body coloring' come from?

Ayako Ikezawa, HoMEIt originated in America. Since Caucasians and Japanese have different skin types and color tones, we've made numerous improvements to the machine itself and the process.

SuzukiThis 'body coloring' involves spraying on a liquid, right?

HoMEThat's right. It's completely different from tanning salon machines; it colors the stratum corneum of the skin. Simply put, we use an airbrush to spray a liquid, then dry it with a hairdryer, covering the entire body, including the face. We started this service here in Japan four years ago, the first of its kind, and initially, it was difficult to explain. However, word-of-mouth has gradually built a loyal following.

SuzukiWith tanning salons, you have to visit multiple times. This way, you see results immediately, it doesn't hurt, and it's great.

HoMEWe have five shades of liquid. The lightest is 'Sunshine,' a yellowish tone that suits Japanese skin best. Next is 'Terracotta,' a reddish tone favored by celebrities. 'Hawaiian' is a dark, almost black shade, popular with men. Our new shade, 'Brazilian Sunrise,' is a more bitter tone than Hawaiian. Finally, 'Sparkle Kiss' contains glitter. Which color would you like today?

SuzukiThen, I'll have Terracotta, please.

HoMEThat's an excellent choice. Focusing solely on the depth of color can sometimes lack elegance.

Men in Underwear, Women Completely Nude for Coloring

SuzukiHow long does it take?

HoMEAbout 30 minutes for the whole body. Many women prefer to be completely nude to avoid any lines, even around the bikini area.

SuzukiIs the liquid safe for the skin?

HoMEInitially, we used imported products, but we've researched pigments that suit Japanese skin and have made continuous improvements, such as incorporating Coenzyme Q10 and Vitamin E. The liquid contains an ingredient that turns brown when it binds with the skin's keratin. Beyond cosmetic purposes like tanning, it's used in the medical field for its coverage. It applies smoothly and evenly, much like car paint.

Before treatment

After treatment

SuzukiSo, it evens out the skin while adding color. How long does one session last?

HoMEIt's usually a set of two sessions. A single session lasts about five to seven days.

SuzukiAnd with the two-session package?

HoMEThe second session is done the day after tomorrow, and it lasts for about ten to fourteen days.

SuzukiWhat about the price?

HoMEOne session (part of a two-session package) is ¥10,500. A single session is ¥6,000. Our popular coupon offers five sessions for the price of four.
