Designed Based on Internavi's Driving Data Map
Internavi, developed by Honda in 2003, is a two-way communication car navigation system that provides essential traffic information, predicts congestion, and guides drivers with accurate routes by utilizing driving data automatically collected from members of the "Internavi Link Premium Club," who engage in two-way communication.

Internavi's Initiative During the Great East Japan Earthquake: "Passable Road Information Map"

During the Great East Japan Earthquake, when tsunami and road damage severely limited passable routes, Honda released a map of passable roads based on collected data to support the smooth movement of residents and relief workers. This map was made publicly available starting March 12, 2011, the day after the earthquake, and proved invaluable for various support activities. Following this success, Internavi received the Good Design Grand Award at last year's Good Design Awards, as well as a Special Award for Support for Reconstruction from the Great East Japan Earthquake at the 3rd ATTT Awards (Automotive Communication Technology Award).
Furthermore, "CONNECTING LIFELINES" was designed based on this map. It visualizes the connection of roads over the 20 days following the earthquake, set to serene music and incorporating reactions from Twitter. The work was screened at events like last year's Tokyo Motor Show 2011, generating significant buzz.
This "road memory," "CONNECTING LIFELINES," also received high praise globally. At the 59th Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, one of the world's largest advertising and communication awards held in June this year, it won the prestigious Titanium Lion award in the Titanium & Integrated Lions category. Additionally, it received a Gold Lotus in the Cyber Lotus category at the 15th Asia Pacific Advertising Festival, establishing itself as a video work that captured the world's attention.
"CONNECTING LIFELINES" quietly chronicles the reopening of roads in the Tohoku region, allowing the flow of logistics and people, like the circulation of blood. It serves as a profound reminder of Internavi's contributions, which were vital when infrastructure and information were cut off in the aftermath of that day.
