Further Acceleration of Business

Yamada Denki has been experimentally developing a business that involves equipping used homes with solar power generation systems and making them all-electric for sale. With energy conservation awareness heightened further after the Great East Japan Earthquake, the company determined that acquiring expertise in housing, including new construction, was necessary to accelerate its smart house business, leading to the current TOB.

However, this plan predates the earthquake. The company has been involved in the smart house business for four to five years, recognizing the market's potential early on. Government legislation related to renewable energy also serves as a tailwind. If smart houses become widespread, the average unit price is expected to increase, leading to sales growth.

At a press conference, Chairman Noboru Yamada stated, "Yamada can propose energy saving, storage, and generation. S-B-L possesses housing expertise. By cooperating, we will strive not to be outdone by other housing manufacturers."
