Participate in Forest Creation Through Twitter!
UNITED ARROWS' "REDUCE SHOPPING BAG ACTION" is a project where, if customers bring their own bags and decline shopping bags, UNITED ARROWS donates 5 yen per instance to forestation efforts. As of the end of March 2011, since its launch in November 2008, the project has received cooperation from over 360,000 people, with expected donations exceeding 1.8 million yen.
From April 2011, we will support forest creation in Japan through "more trees," an initiative that promotes forest conservation activities such as thinning in collaboration with local governments and forestry associations across Japan.
Twitter for more trees
From April 11 (Mon) to April 30 (Sat), UNITED ARROWS will donate 5 yen per follower to "more trees" through the campaign's dedicated Twitter account (@UALTD_ReduceBag), sharing information about Japan's forests and the forestation activities of "more trees."

Receive a Gift of Thinned Hinoki Blocks from Domestic Cypress
Furthermore, starting April 22 (Fri), at stores implementing the "REDUCE SHOPPING BAG ACTION," we will offer a leaflet announcing new forestation efforts and blocks made from thinned cypress wood from Tosa, Kochi Prefecture (limited quantities available, while supplies last). Hinoki wood possesses deodorizing, insect-repelling, and humidity-regulating properties, and can be used in applications such as within clothing cases. Its fragrance can be revived by lightly sanding the surface when it weakens. Actively using domestic thinned wood provides resources for forest maintenance and supports the creation of Japanese forests.
