LIFE311 isRyuichi Sakamotoa project launched by more trees, a forest conservation organization headed by Mr. Sakamoto, to build temporary housing using local timber from Sumita Town, Iwate Prefecture, with the aim of revitalizing the local economy. Approximately 100 wooden temporary housing units have already been constructed in Sumita Town, providing early shelter for displaced residents from areas such as Rikuzentakata City, which suffered severe tsunami damage and borders Sumita Town. The construction cost per unit, including facilities, is approximately 3 million yen. The project is currently seeking to raise a total of 300 million yen through various forms of charity.
For this "LIFE311 The Charity" event, 12 internationally acclaimed designers and 7 manufacturers have joined the project and will be exhibiting. Shops boasting high design standards, such as "more trees design" featuring top artists and creators, "Kyoei Design," "HIROCOLEDGE," "Oishii Kitchen," and "Hida Sangyo," will gather, making this an unmissable opportunity for lovers of designer goods.
Furthermore, on August 28th at 4:00 PM, a talk show will be held with Mr. Shinkichi Mizutani, the director of the more trees office, and Mr. Daisuke Sugawara, an architect and art director who created the master plan for the wooden temporary housing. They will discuss reconstruction plans from the perspective of forestry and timber, from the standpoint of those involved in creating wooden temporary housing.
"LIFE311 The Charity" offers a chance to contribute to reconstruction efforts while enjoying shopping. Forty percent of the proceeds will be donated to "LIFE311."
