Creating Visual Intrigue Through Material Combinations
"08 Circus" develops clothing that is both classic and modern, utilizing meticulously calculated patterns and carefully selected materials from Japan and abroad. The items, designed to look effortlessly stylish, are crafted for enduring quality, transcending fleeting trends.
For the 2015-16 Autumn/Winter season, the collection was presented in Paris and Tokyo, mirroring the previous season. The men's line adopts the theme of "the fusion of opposing elements: sport and classic." A key feature of this collection is the use of items that combine different materials in the same pattern. For example, the glen check short coat and rider's jacket feature wool on the sleeves and polyester for the body, with seam tape—typically not used on wool—applied to the polyester pockets to create a subtle visual dissonance.
Additionally, techniques used in sportswear, such as laser cutting and pivot sleeves, lend a unique character to the coats and blousons. In terms of materials, a three-dimensional herringbone, woven with yarn intentionally retaining a nep texture, makes an appearance. This lends a rustic, warm feel even to the Chesterfield coat.
Meanwhile, the women's line proposes a masculine style with minimal detailing. Distinctive pieces include dresses with complex, random draping and long skirts with random pleats. The coats, among other items, utilize the functional material "eco-fur." This remarkable fabric retains heat when exposed to sunlight, helping to maintain body temperature.
Furthermore, both the men's and women's collections feature coats and jackets produced by one of Japan's leading tailoring factories. These are authentic pieces, distinguished by meticulous hand-stitching and exquisite cutting.
