British photographer Dan Holdsworth was born in 1974. He has held solo exhibitions at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead and the Barbican Art Gallery in London, and participated in group exhibitions organized by the Tate Modern in London and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
"Blackout" is a series of large-format color prints consisting of 21 photographs he took in 2010. It captures the shrinking glaciers in the mountainous regions of Iceland, revealing the true form of nature that should be observed by deliberately reducing the light. The work is overwhelming, guiding the viewer to an essential place beyond the beautiful scenery.
For the Moncler Fall/Winter 2014-15 collection, an image selected from "Blackout" was translated into items. The lineup includes jackets, tops, pants, shoes, and backpacks, with the same design available for both men and women.
With this project, Moncler expresses its respect for the majestic nature that has long been a source of inspiration and challenge for the brand. Holdsworth's work has created a pivotal moment, with something akin to a giant X-ray revealing the true form of the hidden mountains.
In conjunction with this release, photographs from the "Blackout" series are currently on display at the Moncler Aoyama store.
