The Miu Miu short film project 'Women's Tales' has consistently captured the essence of 21st-century femininity through the unique sensibilities of internationally acclaimed female directors. Each film, in its distinct way, has masterfully explored contemporary womanhood, earning widespread praise. Now, the eighth film in the series, 'SOMEBODY,' directed by Miranda July, has been completed.



Everyone has likely experienced moments of unspoken words or complete speechlessness when facing friends or lovers. In this short film, a new messaging service conceived by Miranda July, called 'SOMEBODY,' serves as the central point around which various narratives unfold. The characters utilize this novel technology to navigate breakups, reconciliations, and the blossoming of love.

Much like her previous works, including the Cannes award-winning 'The Future,' this short film showcases her distinctive sensibility, weaving a narrative tinged with bittersweet humor.

Addressing the insatiable desire for constant communication, technology, avatars, and outsourcing, July commented, 'I see this film as a global public art project. It's a space to generate action, to connect strangers, and to discuss the value of inefficiency and risk.'

The characters in the film are dressed in a mix of pieces from Miu Miu's Fall/Winter 2014 collection, vintage attire, and streetwear. The way these items are integrated and play a significant role within the narrative is another highlight.
