Such Quality from Streetwear: FACETASM is Remarkable

Tokyo Collection is thriving. Following Paris Fashion Week, it spans ten days. For the 2014-15 Autumn/Winter collections, approximately 60 designers presented their new works for both men and women.

FACETASM, which debuted with its menswear line, has become a brand to watch since adding its womenswear line last season. In November last year, they received the Newcomer Award at the Mainichi Fashion Grand Prix. The designer is Hiromichi Ochiai. He pairs oversized knits with vests or rider's jackets, and for bottoms, layers cigarette pants or denim beneath pleated skirts. The brand masterfully crafts garments that, while rooted in street style, possess a superior quality.

support surface: Clothing Crafted with Meticulous Artistry

Speaking of quality, there's support surface, designed by Nobuo Kenmoku. He moved to Italy in his twenties, worked as an assistant to Romeo Gigli, and then established his own label in Tokyo. His garments, which he drapes and cuts with great attention to detail, are sophisticated pieces that convey a sense of tension within their relaxed forms. A double-faced cashmere coat and cape feature bold red and pink lines. Though simple, they are striking, and the meticulously calculated techniques shine through in the generous, natural volume. Even the mannish jackets and pants are imbued with a feminine softness.
