Expressing the world within Dries Van Noten's mind
The current exhibition in Paris expresses Dries Van Noten's diverse sources of inspiration while also revealing his unique creative process.
The exhibition is a journey through the world within Dries Van Noten's mind, combining carefully selected pieces from his men's and women's collections with items from the Musée des Arts Décoratifs' collection, photographs, film excerpts, musical elements, and his own artworks.
The book "Dries Van Noten," the catalog for this exhibition, also compiles various sources of inspiration. It is composed of diverse personal elements spanning fashion, painting, photography, film, and music.
Dries Van Noten's works are displayed alongside artworks from the museum's collection, such as Yves Klein's "Blue Venus," footage from the film "A Clockwork Orange," and photographs of David Bowie, allowing viewers to discover the unexpected relationships between these pieces, their similarities, and contrasts.
Additionally, photographs of Dries Van Noten's home and garden, taken by Koen de Waal, are published for the first time. The book also visually summarizes collections from 1986 onwards, becoming an essential volume for understanding Dries Van Noten.
