A Romantic Collection of High Caliber
The winning collection is titled "They Can Cut All The Flowers, They Cannot Keep Spring From Coming." Inspired by the film "I Am Love" starring British actress Tilda Swinton and the French painter Dominique Ingres, the collection features bold cuts of floral decorative fabric, reassembled into flowing forms. The design is striking, with a masterful contrast between waterproof fabric skirt pleats and marble-like patterns.
Eddy commented on his joy, "I am incredibly honored to have won the H&M Design Award. I have long dreamed of launching my own label, and this award has given me the opportunity to do so." The winning collection was showcased in a fashion show format at the recent Mercedes-Benz Stockholm Fashion Week. With this win, he received a prize of 50,000 euros and the chance to have items based on his collection released in H&M stores.
H&M's Design Director and jury member, Ann-Sofie Johansson, explained the reason for the award: "I was captivated by Eddy's work, both for its romanticism when worn and for the exceptional finishing skills evident upon close inspection. He is truly the most deserving designer, a rising star shining towards the future of fashion." Other jury members included fashion designer Erdem, actress Michelle Dockery, style expert Michelle Harper, and Serena Hood, Executive Fashion Editor of Vogue UK.
Additionally, the Public Vote Award this year was won by Henriette Tilanus, a student at ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in Arnhem.
