Introducing TYPE: A New Brand Crafting Eyewear from Typefaces

TYPE, a new eyewear brand with the novel concept of "creating eyewear designs from typography," debuts on Thursday, January 30th. To mark the occasion, a limited-time pop-up store will open at VACANT in Harajuku.

Try Frames at Home for Five Days

Just as the difference in typefaces can alter the message conveyed in written communication, subtle variations in eyewear frame design can change the impression of the wearer. The eyewear brand TYPE was born from this inspiration, drawing parallels between typography and the functional and design aspects of glasses.

Each product is named after a typeface, with the frames designed to draw inspiration from those fonts. The first collection starts with two typefaces that possess both universality and individuality: "Helvetica" and "Garamond." The frames come in three thicknesses—light, regular, and bold—and three colors: black, tortoiseshell, and clear. With a rich lineup of 36 variations in total, you can choose the item that best suits you. Lenses are compatible with all eyeglasses and sunglasses.

Furthermore, a unique feature is the ability to order up to five items you're interested in online and try them for free for five days. Once you've decided on your favorite, you can place an order online, and the items will be delivered to your home. The price is ¥24,150.

To celebrate the brand's launch, a pop-up store will be held at VACANT in Harajuku from Friday, January 31st to Sunday, February 2nd. This is an opportunity to experience the brand's world and products firsthand. Additionally, during the pop-up period, guest talk sessions will be held with creators deeply involved in the world of typography, so be sure to visit.
