Marni and Porter: A Long-Term Collaboration

Marni and Porter have unveiled a collaborative collection. The first installment is now available at the Marni Men's Shops in Hankyu Men's Tokyo, Hankyu Men's Umeda, and Isetan Shinjuku Men's. New collections will continue to be released quarterly.

Crafted from Porter's Iconic TANKER Series

Porter, the main brand of bag manufacturer Yoshida & Co., founded in 1935, launched in 1962. This collaboration began with Marni's deep admiration for Porter's bags, which are lightweight, functional, and easy to use, created by skilled Japanese artisans.

The first collection features polyester material adorned with Marni's signature modern prints. Like the "TANKER" series, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, it has undergone bonding treatment for a soft texture. The collection includes six items, including pieces based on the iconic helmet bag, a long zip wallet, a bi-fold holding zip wallet, an iPad mini case, and a card case.

From early February 2014, a business collection will be available, featuring new prints on the same polyester material. In addition to an entirely original tote bag design, the collection includes a 3-way bag with backpack straps and a clutch bag. New collections will continue to be announced quarterly.

This collection incorporates leather straps identical to those found on Marni's bags and wallets, and a Marni logo is placed beneath the Porter logo. The details, which fuse modern fabrics and advanced technical skills with the craftsmanship of each brand, are particularly appealing.
