—How did the idea for a film using a pinball machine come about?

I was talking with my brother, Patrizio, about Dior and my work. I mentioned wanting to experiment with the internet and short films, and to express Dior's techniques in a free and fun way. We were also thinking about how to interpret traditional elements in a modern way. Then, we both simultaneously agreed, "Pinball would be great!" That's how it started, and we decided to create something together.

—Why did you feel that a traditional game machine like pinball was appropriate for expressing Christian Dior's jewelry, especially now?

I believe that classic elements, reinterpreted in a contemporary way, are essential to Dior. Pinball is one of the most classic and popular games, and I thought it could express Dior in a modern and captivating manner.

Furthermore, our lives today can be quite demanding, and people need ways to relieve stress. So, I wanted to create something that felt very light, perhaps a bit frivolous, yet also rich.

—Was it enjoyable to create in a virtual world? And were you inspired by the technology that makes such amazing visual experiences possible?

It was a wonderful experience. I particularly loved how everything looked so real, despite being artificial. I'd like to explore other projects in a similar way. It was very inspiring and educational.

—You chose Mozart for the soundtrack. Why select traditional music for a modern film?

Monsieur Dior loved classical music. And we wanted to use traditional music, arranged in an electronic style.

—Do you play pinball?

Of course! I have a friend who owns a pinball machine, and we play for hours together!
