First Solo Exhibition in Japan by Rintaro Tanaka to be Held

“My Freedamn!” Exhibition – Rin Studios at B GALLERY

Beginning Thursday, November 18th, the first solo exhibition in Japan by Rintaro Tanaka, known as the foremost authority on vintage clothing research and author of the vintage fashion photography book series “My Freedamn!”, will be held at B GALLERY on the 6th floor of BEAMS JAPAN in Shinjuku. His books are carried not only in bookstores but also in select shops worldwide.

A Wealth of Unpublished Photos and Cherished Items Revealed!

The book series “My Freedamn!” by Rintaro Tanaka features an immense collection of vintage wear photographed by him as he traveled the globe from his base at Rin Studios in San Clemente, California. He released the highly anticipated ninth volume this past September. The entire series took approximately 12 years to produce, and he photographed over 10,000 pieces of vintage wear. Only a fraction of these could be featured in “My Freedamn!”.

The first solo exhibition in Japan by Rintaro Tanaka, “My Freedamn!” Exhibition – Rin Studios at B GALLERY –, will showcase a vast array of previously unpublished photographs and carefully selected items. Furthermore, a talk show featuring BEAMS Creative Director Hiroshi Kubota and Rintaro Tanaka will be held from 3 PM to 4 PM on Saturday, December 4th (reservations required, limited to the first 40 guests; please contact B GALLERY for reservations).

With its high-quality featured items and its value as a historical archive, “My Freedamn!” has garnered a devoted following worldwide. Rintaro Tanaka’s world, which will also include the second iteration of his vintage clothing event in Long Beach, California, from February 11th to 12th next year, is certainly worth exploring.
