LOEWE Unveils New Bags for Spring/Summer 2014

LOEWE's new bag collection for Spring/Summer 2014 focuses on the supreme leather quality cultivated over its 170-year history. The lineup showcases designs that fully leverage the appeal of its smooth, exquisite leather, renowned as the "master of leather."

Theme: "Skin"

Two bags are introduced from a series inspired by "Origami," a traditional Japanese paper craft. Both use leather that meets LOEWE's stringent standards, achieved through years of expertise, offering a soft, supple feel with uniform thickness. They feature a novel pattern-cutting technique that allows them to be freely transformed from flat to three-dimensional and back, enabling them to be folded compactly.

The "Origami Pillow," like the "Origami Cubo," is characterized by its ingeniously crafted geometric design. Made from a single piece of leather with no lining, it allows one to fully appreciate the high quality of the leather from both the exterior and interior. Also making a reappearance is the "Vega," a flat tote bag that was rediscovered from LOEWE's archives and gained renewed attention through the collaboration with Junya Watanabe for Fall/Winter 2013.

The collection's colors are presented in nude tones, along with white and black, aligning with the "Skin" theme. Naturally, material selection is paramount: nubuck and nappa calfskin are used for the "Origami Pillow." For the "Origami Cubo" and "Vega," two types of leather new to LOEWE are employed – a smooth, lustrous calfskin and a supple nubuck with a captivating sheen.

Iconic bags include the "Flamenco," crafted from glossy calfskin or nubuck with a luxurious nappa lining, and the "Amazona," available in perforated black leather or python. Additionally, exotic leathers are highlighted for the Spring/Summer 2014 season. Crocodile patterns adorn silk and cashmere scarves, while reptile skin motifs are incorporated into jewelry such as necklaces, chokers, and bracelets. The central price range for bags is around ¥250,000 to ¥300,000, with availability expected around March.
