The "D.I.Y. (Do It Yourself) Project" by rag & bone \/ JEAN has garnered attention as an innovative advertising campaign where models are given cameras and bags filled with the brand's items, and then take charge of their own hair, makeup, styling, and photography.
Now, Japanese actress Nana Eikura is the first to feature in this "D.I.Y." project. rag & bone \/ JEAN's encounter with Eikura happened late last year. The designers, Marcus Wainwright and David Neville, were immediately struck by her natural beauty at a party she attended, feeling it was a perfect fit for the image of their next campaign.
"We chose Marie-Ange and Nana because we felt they were both international talents. And both of them look fantastic in rag & bone \/ JEAN clothes!" says designer Marcus Wainwright, expressing his great satisfaction with the results.Pop-up store opening at Isetan Shinjuku on Wednesday, October 9The campaign launched in conjunction with the pop-up store.
Eikura commissioned her friend, photographer Yuya Okuda, to shoot the campaign in Shibuya. Reflecting on the shoot, she said, "(Shibuya) is where I started my modeling career. It's a special place that transformed from a place of aspiration to the center of my life. I savored the city's noise, scents, drunks (laughs), humidity, and the ever-changing Shibuya."
Marie-Ange, meanwhile, shot her campaign at Parisian landmarks such as the banks of the Seine and the Tuileries Garden. "I think we've created works that show how passionate both Nana and Marie-Ange are about the places they live," commented managing partner David Neville.
The "D.I.Y." project, launched in 2011, has featured many popular models including Miranda Kerr, Karmen Pedaru, Sasha Pivovarova, Camille Rowe, Caroline Murphy, and Mina Shin.
