Style, Not Trends

Clothes to Cherish

"What I want to create is style, not trends."

So declared Coco Chanel. The little black dress and the Chanel suit, the Chanel style, remain fresh even after 100 years. Designers now feel it's time to create enduring styles, not trend items that change annually.

Dries Van Noten is a designer who has established his own style. At Paris Fashion Week, he showcases a presence that rivals luxury brands while incorporating ethnic elements. It's both real and modern.

The designs are relaxed yet filled with artisanal craftsmanship. For Fall/Winter, the collection presented a theme of masculine & feminine cross-gender. A tailored skirt with fringe and embroidery peeks out from beneath a masculine overcoat layered over a jacket. The finishing touch of masculine lace-up shoes feels fresh.
