A New Paisley Born from Free Expression

Paisley, originating in Mesopotamia and also known as the "Tree of Life," symbolically represents the seed of the date palm. It is a traditional motif that has graced Etro's history for many years, becoming an integral part of its identity.


Etro is launching the "Paisley Award in Japan" to promote paisley and support emerging Japanese artists.

The award is open to students aged 18 and over currently enrolled in universities, graduate schools, junior colleges, or vocational schools. Submissions, which can be in various forms including painting, illustration, CG, calligraphy, photography, or sculpture, must be no larger than 100x100 cm for exhibition. The application period runs from Monday, March 11th, to Monday, April 1st.

The grand prize winner will receive a training program at Etro's Milan headquarters, including visits to Milan Fashion Week and design studios, and opportunities to interact with designers. Outstanding works will be exhibited at the Etro Ginza Main Store in May.


This is a significant opportunity to engage with the allure of paisley, Etro's philosophy, and to test your own creative abilities. We encourage you to start crafting your masterpiece with the goal of participating in the Italian training program.
