An Interview with Creative Director Jonny Johansson



Popular brand ACNE opens its flagship store in Aoyama this December. On this occasion, we spoke with Creative Director Jonny Johansson about the collection.

What is the Modern Sensibility from this Swedish Brand?






When asked what he values most when creating clothes, ACNE Creative Director Jonny Johansson says, "First, the concept. I don't think about the reality of the garment at all. Once the image is decided, I do fittings to shape the clothes."

ACNE Studios is a Swedish fashion house that extends beyond clothing to art, magazines, and interiors. Their London Collection this September presented garments with volume created by puffs and gathers, contrasted by cinching with self-fabric belts. The Spring/Summer 2013 collection, inspired by music, features romantic dresses with a collage theme.

"I wanted to create a Swedish house in Tokyo," he says, and the Aoyama location, without high-rise buildings, was perfect. "I want women who can express the image conveyed by ACNE's clothes to wear them," says Johansson.
