From Summit to Street: The Modern Evolution of the Alpinist Sunglass

A new collaboration item has been released from MYKITA, the innovative German eyewear brand that fuses design and technology, and MONCLER, the Italian fashion brand renowned for its high-quality outerwear.

A Fusion of Modern Design and Technological Innovation

Introducing "Lionel," the new piece from the Autumn/Winter 2012 collection, which embodies both a homage to the mountains and an urban lifestyle. Inspired by the classic round shape of alpen goggles popular in the 1950s, it merges contemporary elements like a boldly cut double bridge and slim temples. This is the birth of the Alpinist sunglass, evolved for the modern era.

The frames are crafted from "Mylon," a high-tech material patented by MYKITA after extensive research. This material, offering ultra-lightweight properties, exceptional elasticity, and a superior fit, meets the demands of alpen goggles while creating eyewear that is both urban and stylish. The lenses are from Italy's traditional Barberini, providing excellent durability and clear vision, ensuring high functionality. A unique feature is that breathing on the lenses reveals the "MYKITA & Moncler" logo. The soft case, designed to protect the glasses during transport, is made from a quilted material reminiscent of Moncler's down jackets, showcasing meticulous attention to detail.

These unisex models are available in three variations: Khaki x Metal Brown, Brown x Metal Gold, and Black x Metal Gold or Metal Silver. Incidentally, the model name "Lionel" is a tribute to Lionel Terray, the first mountaineer to reach a summit wearing Moncler, commemorating the brand's 60th anniversary.

Additionally, to coincide with this new collection, a new Khaki x Metal Brown colorway has been released for "Lino," a model from the first collaboration between MYKITA and MONCLER. The Autumn/Winter 2013 collection, featuring a rich lineup, is now available at MYKITA shops worldwide, MONCLER stores, and on the MONCLER e-commerce site (www.moncler.com).
