Expressing Feminine Beauty Through the Ritual of Getting Ready

The short film project "Women's Tales" uses fashion as its theme, depicting women captivated by Miu Miu through the distinct gaze and diverse sensibilities of female directors.

The fourth and latest film, "IT'S GETTING LATE," is a story by Iranian-American screenwriter and director Masih Alinejad, who captures four women preparing themselves in a captivating visual narrative. The cast features internationally acclaimed actresses Rinko Kikuchi, Gemma Arterton, Patricia Clarkson, and Aubrey Plaza. Towards the end of the film, rising singer Zola Jesus makes a special appearance as herself, delivering a mesmerizing performance.

Set in Los Angeles, the story unfolds through four distinct narratives as four women, leading entirely different lives as career women and mothers, prepare for their respective nights after finishing their day's work.

Gently removing a silk blouse from its packaging, slipping on high heels, applying makeup, and zipping up a dress – they prepare themselves and head out to a live venue. There, they find singer Zola Jesus. As her soulful voice fills the air, their night deepens, each adorned in their chosen fashion..

"Fashion is not just about clothes; it extends to our mood, excitement, expectations, posture, and even our way of thinking. Getting ready often becomes an opportunity to embrace an internal transformation, and this short film aims to express that," says director Masih Alinejad. Through the ritual of preparing oneself to feel more suited to a particular place, this film expresses feminine beauty. It is currently available to watch on Miu Miu's official website, along with previous works. Exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes footage are also featured, so be sure to take a look.
