Philippa Price Directs the First Installation
The first installment features Philippa Price, an artist director globally recognized for her work on music videos and live performances, including those for Banks and Pharrell (Lyric video), Alicia Keys, and Rihanna and Drake’s live performance at The Brits.
Philippa Price, known for her futuristic surrealist vision, chose the Crown Motel in the Nevada desert as her setting. With a quirky and mysterious perspective, she depicted models Megan Nison and Bradley Soileau adorned in the Spring 2017 Womenswear and Spring/Summer 2017 Menswear collections.
Price recounts how the Crown Motel, once a mining town in the early 1900s, later served as a mock town for atomic bomb testing between the 1940s, where experiments were conducted to observe the effects of atomic blasts. Adjacent to the motel lies an old cemetery with graves dating from 1906 to 1911, creating an illusion of a desert landscape where cars rained down.
Philippa Price, who loves the fluidity of gender in fashion, embraced the concept of boyfriends wearing womenswear and female models donning menswear. For Price, a science enthusiast who draws inspiration from her dreams, the fusion of science and the surreal in her work is entirely natural. The film employs sci-fi and technology in a surreal manner, with striking makeup and hair designs that are sure to captivate.
“Quirky, confident, and unafraid to be themselves!” Philippa Price’s 2017 Spring/Summer visual collaboration “#StellaBy” for Stella McCartney is not to be missed.
