Oliver Goldsmith, the venerable British eyewear brand, presents its "Archive Line," a collection meticulously recreating models originally released between the 1950s and 1970s, utilizing cutting-edge manufacturing techniques. While faithfully reproducing the designs of its predecessors, the line introduces variations in size and color, resulting in contemporary pieces that acknowledge today's trends. Now, the "CHARLES" frame, a personal favorite of Charles Oliver Goldsmith, the second generation of the brand, is being reissued.

Recreating Exquisite Craftsmanship for the Modern Era
Charles Oliver Goldsmith, the second generation of Oliver Goldsmith, is known for inheriting the craftsman's spirit and rigorous standards of his father, the founder, while also recognizing the fashion potential of eyeglasses beyond mere vision correction. His acetate frames, in particular, gained popularity and were favored by celebrities such as Michael Caine, Peter Sellers, and Sophia Loren, propelling the brand to prominence in the 1970s.
The original "CHARLES" featured platinum for its material, with intricate hand-carving adorning the rims, giving it the appearance of a work of art rather than just eyewear. For this reissue, considerations for durability and fit have been made. Titanium is used for the rims, while alloy is employed for the bridge and temples. Production is carried out in Japan, where skilled artisans have meticulously recreated the carved details to a standard indistinguishable from the original.
While the original was available in only one size (with cable temples), this reissue offers a range of eye sizes, standard temple designs, and sunglasses.
