A Luxury Specialty Store Where You Can Find Both What You Want to Give and What You Want to Receive

Mr. SHIMAZU Yoshiyuki (hereinafter, Shimazu)Since the Shinjuku store opened in 1990, I've been coming here often to find Christmas presents, as well as gifts for those I'm grateful to. A luxury specialty store is truly a dream destination for adults. Barneys was the one that created a new value for gifts.

Mr. MIYAZAWA Mario (hereinafter, Miyazawa)I first visited Barneys New York when I was a high school student at the San Francisco store. Back then, it felt very adult, and I thought it was completely out of my reach. But after visiting the Ginza flagship store this time, I realized there are many items that younger generations can afford, and they are all so stylish and sophisticated. It doesn't feel like it's just for adults.

Ms. AKIMOTO Yuki (hereinafter, Akimoto)I've also admired it as an "adult department store" since I was in high school, and I especially wanted their original golf bags back then (laughs).

ShimazuBarneys has always shaped fashion culture, hasn't it? Since the first store opened in New York in 1923, they have continuously communicated art and culture alongside various top artists, sending not just products but also dreams out into the world as a luxury specialty store. It's an entity that constantly creates aspiration.

AkimotoThat's true, which is why just receiving a Barneys bag as a gift makes me excited imagining what's inside (laughs).

ShimazuI'm particular about gift wrapping, so Barneys' gift boxes are perfect in that regard too. They have a certain flair.

MiyazawaThere are so many items, I was able to decide on a gift for my parents right away, and I've actually found something I want for myself already (laughs).

ShimazuOf course, there are gifts for younger people, but I also found the perfect gift for my 92-year-old father. While it's always exciting to look for things for myself at Barneys, it's also top-notch in its ability to help you find gifts for any generation.

AkimotoThe festive atmosphere in the store during the holiday season is especially wonderful. Just looking around lifts my spirits.

MiyazawaMr. Shimazu, how do you choose gifts for men?

ShimazuIt's still about thinking of the recipient, but clothes can be tricky with sizing, so I often choose items like scarves or gloves that don't require a specific size. Socks are another option. Barneys has a great selection of socks, so good quality dress socks are always appreciated.

AkimotoThe limited charity tote bags that appear only during the holiday season are available from 500 yen, so they're great as small gifts for people you're grateful to, or perhaps to put other gifts inside. The fact that the entire proceeds are donated is also appealing.
