Delicate, Structured Creations by the Couturiers' Handwork

Donatella Versace's Vision of a Mystical World
Atelier Versace, which returned to the haute couture collections last season for Spring/Summer 2012, presented pieces inspired by the tarot symbols of the sun, moon, and stars. Finely cut printed leather is meticulously joined to create structured bodices. A flowing mermaid line is drawn from corset tops made of patent leather. A spiderweb-like pink gold beaded dress is glamorous and elegant. Fine jewelry was unveiled on the runway for the first time this season, with all pieces being one-of-a-kind, custom orders.
Riccardo Tisci: A Fusion of the 1960s and Opulent Gypsy Style
Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci, traditionally presented in a room overlooking Place Vendôme, infused 1960s fashion with a gypsy spirit. Delicate fringes and tassels were crafted from mink and leather, adorning dresses and capes. Looks featuring dresses peeking from boldly cut-out backs, like vests, showcased beautiful contrasts and fluid silhouettes. The embellishments on the linings and the red bijoux on the basic colored dresses were striking.
