A Day in the Trippen Repair Workshop: A Craftsman at Work
Trippen Harajuku x Yuichiro Tamura Exhibition
The secret to trippen shoes, which mold to your feet the more you wear them, lies in their simple, carefully selected construction and materials.—Trippen, a name derived from the German word for "toddling," is loved worldwide for its fashionable yet simple shoes, designed with the human body's structure in mind for optimal comfort.
From Saturday, May 19th to Thursday, May 24th, the film "Der Bärenhäuter" by visual artist Yuichiro Tamura will be screened at Trippen Harajuku, the brand's first directly managed store in Japan.

The film "Der Bärenhäuter" means "Man in Bearskin" in German
Trippen was born in Berlin in 1992 from the collaboration of Michael Ehler, a master craftsman who also worked on orthopedic shoes, and Angela Spietz, a fashion designer. The brand, which has won numerous design awards for its beautiful forms and exceptional comfort, boasts an international track record, including designing collection shoes for high-fashion houses like YOHJI YAMAMOTO and collaborating with renowned brands.
This exhibition features "Der Bärenhäuter" (meaning "Man in Bearskin" in German), a film by visual artist Yuichiro Tamura, capturing a scene of "a craftsman at work in the Trippen repair workshop on a certain day."
"Shoes that are worn for a long time, repaired repeatedly, are supported by hands like these. We created this work to introduce more people to the charm of the Trippen brand and to make our store a more open and free space. We hope it will be a film that those who love craftsmanship, not just Trippen, will want to see," Tamura says.
