Camper Daimaru Shinsaibashi Store Opens

The Camper shop in Daimaru Shinsaibashi will be reborn on Friday, March 30th, as the first "Together Concept" shop in Osaka. The design was handled by Design Office Nendo, led by Oki Sato, who is globally acclaimed for his work across diverse fields including architecture, interiors, events, furniture, products, and graphics. The minimalist shop boasts an innovative design that evokes a sense of being in a world of zero gravity!

A Pure White New Shop Where Shoes Take Center Stage

Camper's "Together Concept" is a collaborative project with leading emerging designers from around the world. Campana Brothers, Alfredo Häberli, Jaime Hayon, Konstantin Grcic, Maria Blaise, Bernhard Willhelm, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Michele De Lucchi, Tokujin Yoshioka... Through designs that address the needs of contemporary global society, it incorporates diverse cultures and creative expertise into a single project.

This Daimaru Shinsaibashi store is the first Camper shop designed by Nendo. Oki Sato explains, "Camper shoes aren't for running faster or for status. I believe they are simply shoes for enjoying the act of walking, so for this design, I aimed to create a space where the shoes appear to float, as if they are taking a stroll themselves."

He further elaborates, "Not only the display shoes but also the shoes for sale are floating. They are placed on stands made of thin tubes and foot molds, making them appear to float with minimal visual obstruction. The angles and positions of these foot mold stands, which extend along the walls and ceiling, vary slightly, not only guiding customers through the store but also creating the illusion of shoes walking in slow motion."

In mid-April, Camper is also set to open a shop in Kichijoji designed by Italian design master Michele De Lucchi. Attention should be paid not only to the shoes but also to the unique shop designs.
