Opening in France, the Brand's Namesake

The brand name 'pas de calais' comes from a place name in northern France, where on clear days, the white cliffs of Dover can be seen across the strait. It is also known as the region that produces the world's most beautiful lace, 'Dentelle de Calais'.

Inspired by delicate lace and a lifestyle lived in harmony with nature, pas de calais is opening 'pas de calais Paris Le Marais', its second overseas store, following the opening of 'pas de calais New York Soho' in NY's SoHo in 2013.

Inspiration from the Collection

The interior design of the Paris Le Marais store was handled by Raphael Navot, an Israeli designer currently based in Paris. The concept is 'a space that evokes nature'. The materials and patterns used in the store are inspired by the soft, gentle, yet raw textiles used in pas de calais collections, employing natural materials that transform beautifully over time, such as cracked wood, corroded metal, and dust-covered limestone.

Inside, there is a low table and floating racks, with a patchwork wooden floor, textured walls in white chalk, and walls in coal black. All elements of the space utilize the characteristics of natural materials, fusing traditional French craftsmanship with innovative techniques, and are meticulously finished one by one by local artisans.
