The "Yves Saint Laurent" Label is Revived!
The new couture house of Yves Saint Laurent is located at 24 Rue de l'Université in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Designed with 18th-century French historical elements and architectural principles, it is a hotel built in 1685 by architect Thomas Gobert, which has undergone a three-year renovation.
The staircase, built during the reign of Louis XIV, is adorned with exclusive paintings created by New York artist Garth Weiser, and the geometric garden faithfully restores its original design based on 18th-century records. Furniture includes pieces from the private collections of the Yves Saint Laurent house and Hedi Slimane, such as modernist, Art Deco, and 18th-century French furnishings.
There are four salons on the second floor, with couture ateliers on the third and fourth floors. Two ateliers are established: "Atelier Flou" for dressmaking and "Atelier Tailleur" for tailoring. In these ateliers, handmade garments are created by commission for film stars and musicians. It is said that Hedi Slimane himself decides whether to affix the "Yves Saint Laurent" couture label to the finished pieces.
The couture campaign "Le Deux Université" announced this time features Hedi Slimane as the photographer. The models include the brand's iconic muses Flo, Elena, and Lida, as well as icon boy Devon. All shooting took place in the couture salons and gardens.
The renovation of the ateliers is part of Hedi Slimane's Saint Laurent reform project and plays a central role.
