The Way We Live with “STYLE”

Kurashi Note Vol. 4: “The Bunny Show”

In America, the period after Christmas feels like a state of collapse. New Year’s Day feels like opening the refrigerator to clear out leftovers. Then, as if nothing happened, normal life resumes from the second of January. The only thing that shows spirit are the diet commercials for the weight gained during this past month or two. In that regard, Japan still holds onto its New Year traditions.

The Year of the Rabbit──Introducing a simple, rustic bunny

This rabbit is by Yuma Takeda, an artist from Kochi Prefecture. Made from thick boards of thinned wood, this cutout rabbit silhouette can be enjoyed as a display piece with creative placement and arrangement.

For inquiries, please contact Printemps in Kochi City at Tel. 088-873-5005.

Rather than just for the zodiac, please cherish this green bunny for a long time.

OPENERS’s series feels like standing at a lighthouse at the edge of a cape, sensing a connection to Japan and to myself. Walking as far as I can go, then gazing out at the sea from that dead end… The sea sparkles, and faint, pale clouds float on the horizon…

My one and only major hope for 2011 is to travel to Ystad in southern Sweden. If that happens, everything will be wonderful! Of course, if it does, I will introduce it on OPENERS with short text and plenty of photos, following this concept.

May you succeed in 2011 !!
