A Residential Dog is Born at a Luxury Hotel in Hakone!?

There are only a few luxury hotels where you can stay with your beloved dog. My favorite hotel is 'Hyatt Regency Hakone Resort & Spa,' located in Gora, Hakone. It has six rooms where guests can stay with their dogs, but they are always very popular! Actually, I was surprised the other day when I saw a new press release from the PR department. It announced the birth of the first-ever 'residential dog' at a luxury hotel! ♪

He sits when you say "Welcome!"

Hotel General Manager Hiroko Noguchi had been talking about a dog for a while, so when I saw the dog's photo, I couldn't help but smile, thinking, "It's finally happened..." The photo in the release appears to be from when he was just a newborn. He's a black Labrador Retriever boy with a glossy coat. His name is "HARU." I knew I had to come for an interview! So, I came here, combining it with my summer vacation. I'm writing this article from my room at the hotel right now (August 23rd) (lol).

I arrived around check-in time, 2 PM, and was greeted by General Manager Noguchi, PR representative Higuchi, and the energetic HARU. He's grown a lot since the photo in the release, already weighing over 20kg at four months old. I might take HARU for a walk early in the morning. To commemorate the occasion, we took a photo with the playful HARU at the entrance. They're training him to sit when you say "Welcome!" It's a wonderful environment surrounded by greenery, so the dog can relax here too.

A Modern and Beautiful Space with Excellent Flow from the Hot Springs to the Spa

I'm also a big fan of the "Spa IZUMI" and have visited many times. They offer a wide range of treatments using "Yon-Ka," and their treatments using the hotel's original high-quality oils (kiwi, raspberry, blueberry, avocado) are incredibly soothing. Having a treatment before bed ensures a deep sleep. The hot springs are a slightly acidic sulfate spring from the Owakudani hot spring source, which is said to be good for stiff shoulders. The flow from the hot springs to the spa is superb, and the relaxation lounge is a spacious, modern, and beautiful area. The entire hotel has a lodge-like structure, giving it a warm feel. In October, the living space with a fireplace comes alive, with high ceilings, and during happy hour, conversations flow easily over champagne.

The souvenir corner is even more extensive than before, with recommendations like IZUMI's original bath salts, shampoos, and candles. When lined up, the four types of bath salts and shampoos feature package designs that form a continuous flow, like a single piece of art. So stylish! I have these four types of bath salts in my own bathroom. From Hakone's distinctive Yosegi-zaiku woodwork and glassware to ceramics and original sweets, the selection is modern. I was particularly struck by the unique presence of Billiken, the god of good fortune, in Hakone...!?

Since it's close to Tokyo, it's a great option for when you want to relax for a bit or travel with your beloved dog, don't you think?
