Modern Pieces Perfect for the Coming Season
Malo was founded in 1972 on the outskirts of Florence, Italy. The brand is renowned for its high-gauge knits made from only the finest parts of cashmere from a single sheep, offering a soft, enveloping feel that has garnered acclaim both in Italy and abroad. At its own factories in Vicenza and Florence, Malo oversees the entire production process, from yarn twisting to knitting and sewing, consistently creating high-quality knitwear. The company is also known for its proactive approach to developing new designs and techniques, often collaborating with external designers.
For the Fall/Winter 2014-15 collection, the brand drew inspiration from the works of prominent painters. One such artist is Jack Bush, a leading figure in Canadian art. The nuances of his abstract style are applied to the knitting techniques and color palettes. A prime example is the high-gauge knit turtleneck sweater with its subtle color gradation, as seen in the photo below. Leonardo da Vinci, who hailed from Tuscany, the same region where Malo was founded, also proved to be a significant influence.
Malo's signature authentic pieces also command attention. The Chesterfield coat, in particular, stands out as a representative piece for this season. Crafted from the brand's characteristically fine wool, it features a beautifully tailored, slightly slim silhouette. The ribbed cardigan and jacket, designed to be paired with jeans, offer versatile designs suitable for any occasion.
