TOM FORD Returns to Japan After Four Years: A Tokyo Diary

Tom Ford, visiting Japan for the first time in four years since 2005, was in town. We followed him during his stay for the Tokyo International Film Festival screening of his directorial debut, "A Single Man," and his visit to the shop that opened in Isetan Shinjuku Men's Building in August.

October 19 (Mon): Stage Greeting at Screening of Directorial Debut "A Single Man"
Tom Ford appeared at the 22nd Tokyo International Film Festival with his much-talked-about film "A Single Man," for which lead actor Colin Firth won Best Actor at this year's Venice Film Festival.
Regarding the film, which had its Asian premiere here, he said in his speech, "I am very happy to participate in the Tokyo International Film Festival. I won't say much about the film here. I believe the film speaks for itself." He offered a beaming smile to the packed audience.
Prior to the screening of "A Single Man," a reception was held at "TWO ROOMS GRILL/BAR," a restaurant and bar on the 5th floor of the Aoyama AO Building. The venue, offering panoramic views of the city center as an urban oasis, was also decorated in Tom Ford's preferred interior style.
October 20 (Tue) 6 PM - 7 PM: Visit to "TOM FORD" at Isetan Shinjuku Men's Building
On October 20, Tom Ford's visit to "TOM FORD ISETAN" was announced in a full 15-page advertisement in the Asahi Shimbun morning edition.
At 6 PM that day, Tom Ford arrived in front of the main entrance of Isetan Shinjuku Men's Building. He was met with a flash of cameras in front of the new fragrance "Grey Vetiver" displayed in the show window.
He then proceeded to the "TOM FORD" shop on the 5th floor, where he held a signing event for customers purchasing Grey Vetiver, which was on exclusive sale at Isetan.
Even after an hour, the line of fans did not dwindle, and he even obliged fans with two-shot photographs.
