Desert Boots' 60th Anniversary Special Commemorative Model Released
DESERT BOOT 60th Anniversary Collection
Desert Boot 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Release
In 1950, Nathan Clark, the fourth generation of the founder, announced the "Desert Boot," inspired by boots shown to him by a British soldier friend during World War II. Initially, this shoe, which was poorly received with comments like "such an unusual item won't sell," became a hit in America. It was accepted back into Britain in a form of re-importation and quickly became the origin of casual footwear worldwide, loved by people everywhere.
Condensing 60 Years of Fashion History into a Single Design
It has been 60 years since the Desert Boot was born. Clarks Originals presents six special anniversary models of the Desert Boot in its commemorative 2009 Autumn/Winter collection.
Each model reflects the 60-year history of the Desert Boot, decade by decade, with three styles for men and three for women.
Also noteworthy is the inclusion of a super-rare miniature Desert Boot keyring, crafted from the same material as the Desert Boot, presented in a specially designed box to commemorate the 60th anniversary.
The model representing the 1950s is "Harris Tweed."
Using the British brand Harris Tweed, this is the quintessential "Harris Tweed."
The model symbolizing the 1960s is "Liberty Print."
A paisley "Liberty Print" reflecting the 1960s, a decade of trendy pop art and music.
The 1970s are represented by "Purple Suede."
Deep purple suede with fringe detailing as the focal point, "Purple Suede."
Capturing the essence of the 1980s is "Denim Blue."
Made with washed denim and featuring a side pocket, "Denim Blue."
Symbolizing the 1990s is "Red/White/Blue."
A bold Union Jack design in faithful colors on a navy suede base, "Red/White/Blue."
And the 2000s are represented by "Vintage Sand Suede."
Using the same material as the original production in 1949, "Vintage Sand Suede" is characterized by its thick, smooth texture.
