The latest collection from MAX PITTION features not only the previously released colors like black and tortoiseshell, but also a colorful collection that, while retaining the brand's signature depth, offers a distinct departure from previous offerings. The original, French pop-inspired color palette is refreshingly new.
Based on bold, bright colors characteristic of the French-born brand, the "RUBY," "ROCKET BLUE," and "NUDE" colors create a sophisticated atmosphere with exquisite gradation. These shades fuse vivid, colorful elements with the rich, European vintage allure of the brand, resulting in a beautiful finish.
The "MAX PITTION" Colors Collection, held until Sunday, August 24th at the eyewear shop Continuer in Ebisu, Tokyo, showcases two popular existing models, "Politician" and "Shelby," alongside two new additions: "Vega," with its rounded shape reflecting current trends, and "GITANE," a celebrity-inspired design evoking a butterfly shape. Both are unisex designs, adding depth to the collection.
About MAX PITTION
The current creative director is Grammy Award-winning guitarist John Mayer.
The brand's founder, Max Pittion, was born on March 1, 1921, in Oyonnax, a small town in the Southern Jura region of the French Alps. The business began when Max's father, Émile Pittion, started limited production of celluloid eyewear in his home workshop, Pittion Lunetterie, in the 1940s.
During the golden age of Pittion Lunetterie in the 1960s and 70s, the factory grew to employ over 200 people, and Max became president of the eyewear manufacturers' association, the "Chamber Syndicale de la Lunetterie." Subsequently, in 1967, he became one of the founding members of the "Silmo Paris International Eyewear Fair (SILMO)." This fair, initially held annually in Oyonnax, later moved to Paris and became the world's largest and most renowned eyewear exhibition.
Max retired in the late 1970s, enjoying a secluded life pursuing skiing and hiking in nature. He passed away in Oyonnax on January 4, 2009, at the age of 87. Four years after his passing, in 2013, "MAX PITTION" was relaunched in his honor and memory.
Currently, the creative director is none other than Grammy Award-winning guitarist John Mayer. As an eyewear collector himself, he fell in love with the brand and acquired its rights. He then partnered with Tammy O'Gara of "The LIGHT Co.Ltd," who has designed eyewear for various brands including "NATIVE SONS," to revive the brand.
