An ambitious initiative tracing the roots of the cross gun motif
roar unveiled original stained glass at their 2014-15 Autumn/Winter exhibition venue. This was a collaborative work with the art studio "St. Heavogon Studio," with whom they had a long-standing relationship. Both parties, holding strong interest in each other's creations, began the project as if drawn together.
St. Heavogon Studio is a project produced by Kazuwa Leo, who has worked on fashion brands such as "toilet," with the theme of "Out of Place Artfacts." They create highly original stained glass and objects, developing their artwork in various fields.
The stained glass unveiled this time was created with the image of "stained glass discovered in a barn," fitting the Western frontier era when the pistol "peace maker," the origin of roar's "cross gun," was born.
The wooden frame used for the stained glass frame is also a window frame from a barn actually used in America 100 years ago. Following the techniques of that era, pigment mixed with glass powder was dissolved in wine vinegar to create paint. Each glass part was then individually fired in a kiln onto glass, and assembled into stained glass.
roar has released items inspired by this stained glass. Bold graphics are applied to the back of blousons, jackets, and shirts, using various techniques such as flocky print and rhinestones.
Through the collaboration with St. Heavogon Studio, the trademark "cross gun" is infused with new sensibility, imbuing the products with unprecedented warmth and solemnity. The entire collection is scheduled to be available in stores in September.
