Sand Beige: Inspired by the West African Landscape

Launched in 2019 as a collaboration between ASICS and architect Kengo Kuma, the "METARIDE™ AMU" running shoe, which garnered significant attention, now arrives in a new colorway imbued with the spirit of speed.

A new color has joined the "METARIDE™ AMU" running shoe, born in 2019 from a collaboration between Japan's leading architect Kengo Kuma and ASICS.

The upper is inspired by the traditional Japanese "yara-ami" weaving technique. This time, the upper is said to evoke Kuma's graduate school trek across the Sahara Desert.

The chosen sand beige is described by Kuma as "the color of speed." Furthermore, the design incorporates environmentally conscious elements throughout, such as a midsole material that utilizes the natural color of the material, a knit section woven from 100% recycled yarn, and a heel tape made from naturally derived Japanese paper yarn.

Improvements have been made not only to visible elements like the secure fit and the lace stopper suitable for long-distance running, but also to the cross-section of the synthetic leather material, the lining, and the sewing thread. Available exclusively at the ASICS online store.
