Nike is releasing its new sneakers, the Nike Air Zoom Type. Based on early prototypes of the Nike Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT%, these sneakers feature a unique look developed alongside performance products. They launch on Thursday, June 4, 2020.

A striking design born from prototypes
Nike introduces the new Nike Air Zoom Type sneakers.
The form is particularly noteworthy. This shape is based on early prototypes of the Nike Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT%. The design aims to stay as close as possible to the simple, beautiful prototype.
This approach also aligns with the evolution of the Nike N.354 label. Products from this experimental label utilize prototypes stored in Nike's archive, but the Nike Air Zoom Type was created concurrently with the development of new performance products.
Consequently, the Nike Air Zoom Type boasts a unique form that blends rawness with refinement.
The silhouette, aesthetic, material choices, and details pay homage to Nike's unique design heritage, developed with the goal of providing advanced solutions for athletes.
Focusing on the details, traces of the designer's work are evident in elements like the "N.354" logo and visible stitching. The breathable tongue is inspired by Nike's iconic running shoe, the Lunar Racer.
Two Zoom Air units in the forefoot and a TPU plate for midfoot support are encased in plush, soft foam, offering a novel feel and comfort.
This shoe is designed not for breaking records, but to provide comfort and reduce stress on the body and feet during daily activities.
Lee Gibson, Nike Design Lead, commented, "Rather than simply recreating the look, I felt it was more profound to connect it to the innovation story. We aimed to achieve this by creating a raw, unpolished version based on the initial concepts and ideas from the development of performance running shoes."
