A collaboration between New Balance and ENGINEERED GARMENTS has been realized, with a collection of sneakers and T-shirts set to be released. The stylish sneakers are based on the "990v5," featuring special materials used for the upper.

ENGINEERED GARMENTS is a fashion brand based in New York. It reinterprets classic American designs, offering products that are both timeless and modern.

This collaboration between New Balance and Engineered Garments brings forth a collection featuring the "990v5" sneaker and T-shirts.

In 1982, the original "990" was born as a running shoe that embodied New Balance's highest technology at the time. Marketed with the tagline, "On a scale of 1000 this shoe is a 990," it was released at a then-premium price of around $100.

Since then, the "990" series has evolved as the brand's flagship model, continuously refined through uncompromising research and development. In April 2019, the "990v5" emerged as New Balance's latest masterpiece, symbolizing the brand.

For this collaboration with ENGINEERED GARMENTS, the "990v5" serves as the base, with five types of leather—smooth, suede, nubuck, and embossed python and crocodile—asymmetrically arranged on the upper. The result is a shoe that showcases textural differences and craftsmanship within a monochrome palette.

Additionally, a T-shirt collection features the brand logo from 1982, the year the original "990" debuted, rendered in a tonal color. The lineup reflects a deep respect for the "990," which continues to be an icon for New Balance.
