An Unprecedented, High-Quality Border Fabric Born from Chance
Loopwheel machines, rarely used today due to their low production efficiency, knit fabric without excessive tension on the yarn, resulting in a fluffy, soft sweat material. LOOPWHEELER's sweat fabric, with its strong commitment to this method, boasts world-class quality, evidenced by collaborations with Nike and constant demand from renowned select shops worldwide, including Colette.
This time, rumors commissioned a special order for the border T-shirt, a staple item versatile for various occasions. Naturally, the border fabric is also knitted on a loopwheel machine. However, the story behind the creation of this two-color alternating yarn border fabric involved twists and turns, as explained by CEO Satoshi Suzuki.
"This border was born from a series of coincidences. It began about two years ago when a young craftsman at the spinning factory in Wakayama, where we produce our sweat fabric, discovered an unfamiliar old machine."
"It was a yarn switching device, essential for knitting borders. It was set up on aシンカー (sinker) knitting machine that emerged after the 1970s. The switching device, also from the 1970s onwards, was used in conjunction with the then-state-of-the-art sinker machines. It would have been almost unheard of for it to be used with loopwheel machines, which had largely disappeared from the market by then."
"So, the young craftsmen at the factory maintained that switching device and decided to try using it with a loopwheel machine. That's how this border fabric came into being."
Born from a chance discovery and the free-thinking of young craftsmen, this border fabric achieves an unprecedented softness, thanks to being knitted on a loopwheel machine. Touching it, you'll find none of the stiffness often associated with boatneck borders; it's exceptionally comfortable against the skin.
The original LOOPWHEELER collection offers three colorways: Grey Melange x White, Navy x White, and a Multicolor version with different combinations on each sleeve. The rumors special order model comes in Grey x Purple. The combination of subdued purple and grey is fresh and results in an elegant impression.
This marks the third collaboration with rumors. We encourage you to acquire this exceptionally rare fashion item, featuring border fabric knitted on a loopwheel machine,at rumorsnow.
