The shop, produced by the interior design firm Wonderwall, led by Masamichi Katayama, under Thom Browne's design concept, fully embodies the Thom Browne world from its austere, marble-gray facade with no windows.
The interior spans approximately 126 tsubo across two floors above ground and one below, comprising six rooms. With terrazzo floors, marble-gray walls, distinctive window blinds separating rooms, and carefully selected mid-century furniture from the likes of Jacques Adnet, Dunbar, Maison Jansen, and Gio Ponti, the space is designed to evoke an office from the late 1950s to early 1960s. A small lounge bar is available opposite the made-to-order floor on the basement level.
"We wanted to offer an experiential journey, not just a shopping experience. This store is as important as our New York store in conveying the true spirit of Thom Browne New York to Japan, Asia, and all corners of the world. Choosing Tokyo as the location for our second global flagship was an easy decision, considering the passion of the Japanese people and their support for Thom Browne New York since the brand's inception," explains designer Thom Browne.
In addition to offering the full range of men's and women's collections, the store also provides made-to-order services. Furthermore, exclusive to the Aoyama store are items featuring Thom Browne's favorite poems hand-written on the brand's iconic Oxford button-down shirts. Available in four colors—white, blue, pink, and orange—they are offered for both men and women.
A visit here offers an unparalleled opportunity to experience the world of a designer who can arguably be called the world's foremost fashion designer today.
