MAISON KITSUNÉ Opens Two Flagship Stores Simultaneously in Minami-Aoyama
On Friday, February 15, 2013, MAISON KITSUNÉ opened its first two flagship stores in Japan, located in Tokyo's Minami-Aoyama district. Comprising two distinct spaces, the stores offer a unique experience that blends fashion, music, design, and lifestyle.

Limited Edition Items and Opening Party to be Held
The highly anticipated first flagship stores in Japan, which finally make their debut, inherit the Parisian concept and consist of two stores handling different lines. One is "MAISON KITSUNÉ," offering a curated selection of ready-to-wear collections. Nearby, "CAFÉ KITSUNÉ" will feature records and CDs from the Kitsuné label, as well as Kitsuné Tea and the Parisian line. As the name suggests, it will also offer café services, where guests can enjoy delicious coffee brewed by skilled baristas.
Both stores, reflecting the collection's spirit and the brand's iconic style, were designed by Masaya Kuroki, one of the brand's founders, who oversaw the interior design and store concept.
Part of the interior of "MAISON KITSUNÉ," inspired by traditional Japanese houses, features tatami mats specially ordered from a workshop in Shimbashi that has been operating for 70 years. The floors are laid with Japanese cedar parquetry using a monogram pattern, and the "shoji" screens, made from rice and bamboo paper, were also specially designed for these new stores.
Meanwhile, "CAFÉ KITSUNÉ" features an approach paved with checkerboard-patterned stones and surrounded by a bamboo fence. Similar to the Japanese tea ceremony culture, the ceiling is low, and the walls are adorned with original wallpaper inspired by Edo-period motifs. The café itself will serve top-tier coffee prepared by baristas who have undergone rigorous training under Eiichi Kunitomo of Shikohin Kenkyusho, the producer behind OMOTESANDO KOFFEE and other establishments. "The Tokyo stores for MAISON KITSUNÉ inherit the architectural concept of the Paris store, adopting a strong Haussmannian style, with a few traditional Japanese architectural elements incorporated," says Masaya Kuroki.
To commemorate the simultaneous opening of these two stores, exclusive items will be available, including cardigans and sweaters featuring a logo of two foxes kissing, short boots in collaboration with "Michel Vivien," and iPhone cases adorned with fox illustrations. These limited-edition pieces are not to be missed.
Furthermore, a Kitsuné Club Night will be held on February 14th (Thursday), the day before the opening, at Shibuya Sound Museum Vision.
Under the direction of Gildas Loaëc, manager of Kitsuné's music label, the event will feature Kitsuné's freshest French electro artists. On this night, the entrance fee is free until midnight, and fitting for the special Valentine's evening, a luxurious and romantic prize of a trip to Paris via Air France will be awarded.
These two stores, a testament to the brand's ability to constantly inspire through its blend of tradition and contemporary approaches, are a must-visit. Come discover your new "classic."
